Vietnam is famous for hundreds of thousands of precious medicinal herbs that are not only widely used domestically but also sought after and imported by many countries around the world. Some medicinal herbs can only be found in the natural environment, while others can be cultivated on a large scale. Below are some typical medicinal products that Mai Anh Group provides.
Cassia Tora
With the scientific name Cassia Tora L, cassia tora is a familiar plant in Vietnam that is found in Phu Tho, Cao Bang, Nghe An, Quang Ninh, and Hoa Binh. It is 0.5-1m tall, and its flowers are bright yellow. The season lasts from September to November. In addition to seeds, some parts including leaves and stems also provide health benefits.
Some medicinal effects of Cassia Tora include:

Semen Alpiniae
Semen alpiniae has a scientific name Alpinia hainanensis K. Schum. It is a herbaceous plant with reddish-brown roots. A perennial semen alpiniae can grow up to 2m tall. It is commonly found in Hainan Island, Guangdong, China, and currently not found in Vietnam. It is harvested in summer and fall. Export quality semen alpiniae seeds are hemispherical in shape, even, and hard with a strong aroma.
This medicinal product is widely used in Oriental medicine to treat diseases such as vomiting, drunkenness, detoxification, and stomach pain.
Sargentodoxa cuneata
The height of sargentodoxa cuneata can be up to 10m. The tree is distributed mainly in the southern mountainous areas such as Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Quang Ngai, and Central Highlands. Its stem can be harvested all year around, but the most ideal time ranges from August to October. After harvesting, the stem is chopped and dried. When cut horizontally, it secretes blood-red sap; when the sap dries, it will form black rings on the cut surface.
Sargentodoza cuneata has some outstanding uses such as:
- Treat anemia.
- Treat bone and joint pain and rheumatism.
- Treat irregular menstruation.
- Treat pinworms and roundworms.
- Treat early-stage appendicitis.
Smilax glabra
Included in the list of familiar and famous medicinal herbs, smilax glabra is often used with many other medicines to treat diseases related to bones and joints. It appears a lot in tropical climate countries such as Vietnam, India, Thailand, and China. In Vietnam, it is found in Nghe An, Khanh Hoa and Lang Son. The best time to harvest its stems and roots is summer.
Common effects of smilax glabra include:

- Have anti-inflammatory effects and reduce bone and joint pain.
Rhizoma bletillae
Long known as a famous Oriental medicine, rhizome bletillae is currently on Vietnam’s red list and focused on research and protection. It is found in Cao Bang, Lang Son, Yen Bai and Ha Giang.
Rhizoma bletillae has hemostatic and antibacterial effects, helping wounds heal quickly. This medicine is often used for patients with pink eyes, nosebleeds, or vomiting blood.
